Slow Cookers Beef Stew

Traditional beef stew, made perfect in the slow cooker.

Usage Tips

Combine your favourite cubed fresh vegetables, boneless stewing beef and the seasoning mix in your pot, put the lid on and let your slow cooker do the rest! Cooks in 8 hours on LOW or 4 hours on HIGH. Try adding tomato juice in place of the water for even more flavour.

FOR SLOW COOKER:

ALL YOU NEED

  • 2.5 cups (625 mL) each chopped potatoes, carrots, onions
  • 3 lb (1.4 kg) boneless beef pot roast (chuck or rump)
  • ½ cup (125 mL) water

ALL YOU DO

  •  Place vegetables and roast in slow cooker. Mix seasoning and water. Pour over vegetables and meat.
  • Cover. Cook 8 hours on LOW or 4 hours on HIGH.
  • Stir before serving.

For Instant Pot:

ALL YOU NEED

  • 2 tbsp (30 mL) vegetable oil
  • 3 lb (1.4 kg) boneless beef pot roast (chuck or rump)
  • 2.5 cups (625 mL) each chopped potatoes, carrots, onions
  • 2 cups (500 mL) water

ALL YOU DO

  • MIX Seasoning Mix and water in bowl until well blended; set aside.
  • HEAT oil on SAUTÉ function. Place roast in pot. Cook 5 minutes or until lightly browned, turning once. Add vegetables. Pour in seasoning mixture. Close lid. Set Valve to Seal.
  • SET to cook for 60 minutes on MEAT/STEW function or until meat and vegetables are tender. When done, quick release the pressure. Open the lid once pressure inside the pot is completely released. (Check manufacturer’s manual for safe operating directions.)Must be cooked for food safety.
