Usage Tips
Combine a pork roast, ketchup, brown sugar, cider vinegar and this seasoning mix to prepare savoury, tender pork that is served shredded on a bun to make "pulled pork" sandwiches. Cooks in 8 hours on LOW or 4 hours on HIGH This seasoning mix also tastes great when used with beef or chicken.
FOR SLOW COOKER:
ALL YOU NEED
- 3 lb (1.4 kg) lean, boneless pork roast
- ¾ cup (175 mL) French’s ketchup
- ½ cup (125 mL) brown sugar
- ⅓ cup (75 mL) cider vinegar
ALL YOU DO
- PLACE pork in slow cooker. Mix seasoning with remaining ingredients. Pour over pork.
- COVER. Cook 8 hours on LOW or 4 hours on HIGH.
- REMOVE pork and shred. Return to slow cooker and stir until well coated.
FOR ELECTRIC PRESSURE COOKER:
ALL YOU NEED
- 3 lb (1.4 kg) lean, boneless pork roast cut into 4 large pieces
- ½ cup (125 mL) each brown sugar and cider vinegar
- ¾ cup (175 mL) each French’s ketchup and water
- 1 tbsp (15ml) vegetable oil
ALL YOU DO
- MIX Seasoning Mix, ketchup, brown sugar and vinegar in bowl until blended; set aside.
- HEAT 1 tablespoon oil on SAUTÉ function. Place pork in pot. Stir and cook 5 minutes or until lightly browned, turning once. Add 3/4 cup water. Pour in sauce mixture. Close lid. Set Valve to Seal.
- SET to cook for 60 minutes on MEAT/STEW function or until pork pulls apart easily. When done, quick release the pressure. Open the lid once pressure inside the pot is completely released. (Check manufacturer’s manual for safe operating directions.)
- REMOVE pork and shred. Return to cooker and stir until well coated.
