Usage Tips
A classic sauce with poached eggs, especially Eggs Benedict or Eggs Florentine. Use on baked salmon, crab cakes, grilled shrimp and other fish and seafood dishes. Serve with roasted chicken and drizzle on steamed or roasted vegetables, such as asparagus, broccoli, green beans, fennel and leeks. For a decadent brunch or dinner, enjoy with steak and eggs.
Stove top directions:
Melt 1/2 cup (125 mL) butter in medium saucepan. Remove from heat, stir in 1 cup (250 mL) water and sauce mix. Bring to boil over medium heat, stirring constantly. Reduce heat. Simmer 3 minutes.
Microwave directions:
In 1-quart (1 L) microwave-safe bowl, melt 1/2 cup (125 mL) butter on HIGH 40 to 60 seconds. Stir in 1 cup (250 mL) water and sauce mix. Cook uncovered on HIGH 3 to 4 minutes or until thickened, stirring after each minute. Makes about 1-2/3 cups (400 mL).
Tip: For a lower fat option, decrease the butter to 1/3 cup (75 mL).
