Happy Pride! Each year, Canadians show support for our LGBTQ+ community during Pride season. The US officially recognizes June as Pride Month, but north of the border different parts of Canada honour it from June into August. Celebrate with colourful, flavorful and delicious recipes that keep the party going all season long.

A Rainbow of Cakes and Cookies

Show up to the Pride party in style with a colourful rainbow cake. A spectacle of vibrant color inside, the whole rainbow runs through every slice. Check out these rainbow cake ideas below.

Food colouring comes in handy when making these beautifully sweet treats. We use our Food Colour Preparation, along with orange and vanilla extracts, to make this Rainbow Bundt Cake. If you don't have a Bundt pan to get that distinctive doughnut shape, try our Tie Dye Cake for a similar random colour effect in a two-layer frosted cake.

If you want to be more creative with using rainbow colours in your rainbow cake, our Easter Egg Surprise Inside Cake is worth the effort. It's a little more involved - plan to pre-bake separate rainbow shapes that bake within the white cake batter. The great news? They don't have to be Easter egg shapes. Hearts or other designs of your choice will let you celebrate Pride your way.

The best things come in small packages (and they're also easier to hand out at Pride get-togethers). With this in mind, how about delicious and festive cupcakes? These School Spirit Cupcakes are simple to make and perfect for Pride-themed celebrations. With a little Vanilla Extract flavouring they taste out of this world.

Cookies more your taste? Pride is all about love, and these Heart-Shaped Painted Sugar Cookies have it in spades. You can stick to the monochromatic ombre effect shown here with stripes of a different hue, or opt for a more vibrant multicolour rainbow effect by altering your food colouring. Either way, you'll be winning hearts where ever you hand these out.

Fruit Desserts for Pride

Cakes and cookies aren't the only way to show off your Pride with flair. This Rainbow Fruit Tart recipe uses different fruits - instead of food colouring - to create a mesmerizing multicoloured effect. Mandarins, strawberries, blueberries, and grapes all combine to create a delicious dessert that takes under 45 minutes from start to finish.

Some people like to celebrate without the gluten. If you'd like a different snack to show your support, never fear: yogurt is here. You can whip up this fun Rainbow Yogurt Bark in just 20 minutes, using Greek yogurt, lemon extract, and honey. Like the fruit tart recipe, the colour in this dish comes just from fruit, but feel free to customize it any way you like. Once solid, cut it into squares for easy portability.

A Savoury Pride Treat

Finally, who said that Pride celebrations have to be sweet? For those who want a more savoury dish to bring to the party, this Rainbow Veggie Pizza is it. Orange, yellow, and green bell peppers will be your best friend when it comes to creating colour for this dish. Red onions and grape tomatoes fill out the spectrum. With store-bought dough, it takes just 15 minutes to prepare once you have the dough, and just 25 minutes to bake in the oven.

These rainbow-coloured recipes are great for taking to Pride events during the summer, but this important celebration of diversity doesn't have to end. Showing your love for the LGBTQ+ community is something you can do any time. Putting a rainbow on your plate is just one small way to stand up and stand out.
